Your advice is spot on. Cooking solitary vegan meals and retreating often sounds good to me, but I'm old and getting picky about food. 😂 Kid needs to try being a little less austere, seize the day!
Thank you for saying that about the advice. Being high in agreeableness, I tend to avoid giving advice or stating opinions, perhaps more than I should.
Good for you for getting into the design work. I did see the design for the sheets and especially liked the one with rain drops. I will look forward to more writing from you when you feel inspired. ❤️
I have not stopped writing, but I have stopped publishing. Right now, I am focused on doing design work. However, I left the door here at Substack open, in case I want to come back.
A really moving post. You manage to bring back a lot of memories have made me think about the comparison between my arrival at Oxford and my younger son's arrival at the same college there many years later. Like you, I have good and bad memories of the place. Your skill in threading two stories together has really helped me to reflect on what I learnt, what I failed to learn. Thank you.
I hope that you will write about some of your experiences at Oxford. The cross-college comparisons are especially interesting to me. For example, we didn't have college dads at Keble. We had moral tutors.
Just finished watching a Merry Berry cooking show on BBC. Big Food and Big Socializing are key themes. Your mention of the common cooked dinner makes me long for family & community comforts....
I love this comparison between your experiences at Oxford and Ruby’s. Her Vlogs are very interesting and uplifting. I am drawn in by her freshness and enthusiasm. Looking forward to reading more about you both.
Ruby has many videos on her YouTube channel. You might like "A Cozy Weekend in the Scottish Isles." Her mother also writes a blog called 'What a Palaver' under the pen name Clara Raven (https://www.whatapalaver.co/). I think I would enjoy hanging out with her parents. They both look familiar to me, but I can't remember where I have seen them.
That was great! I guess you got pregnant in that single bed because there wasn't enough room for two people...
I loved the university vibe and hung out at the Auckland university as detailed in my story worzel wez. They always had a week at the start of the year called orientation which was one big party!
I used to be a comedian back in the day in NZ. I gave up that dream to lug slate up ladders in the scorching Auzzie sun - or cut and fold copper in the Arctic freeze of Canada. Best move I ever made.. not.

I hope you haven’t stopped writing your posts. I miss your voice.

I found both when I was recently in the US. Maybe time to return to Grace?

Lol. You always seem to find a way of making me laugh.
