After a long break, I am resuming the Under the Magnifying Glass newsletter that I started in April 2021. The continuity of my research was broken when I moved from the United States to England . . . and also by a temporary re-direction of my writing (A Delicate Bloom of Learning) from September 2021 to November 2023.
My original plan was to examine the relationship between humans and nature from 10,000 BC to the present in chronological order. I quickly realized that animals had to be treated as a special category, so I am looking at both the relationships between humans and animals as well as between humans and nature. Working chronologically has the disadvantage of being stuck in Ancient history for many posts, and this is not a topic that everyone is interested in. Therefore, I have decided to write about the subject from a variety of perspectives, not necessarily in chronological order. I like to examine a single idea in each post (around 1,000 words in length), so it doesn’t take too long to read each post.
This weekend, I am working at Chastleton Houe. So I will put together a post about their “Inspired by Nature” theme for later this week.
If you would like to continue reading what I write, please subscribe to Under the Magnifying Glass: Nature, Animals, Humans.
Until then, thank you for reading my newsletter.
Sounds great! Glad to hear the news...
@Lynn Childress Welcome back and look forward to this journey.
